  1. Incredible slice of Purple history with this boot. Both Ed and myself, bootleg fanatics, tried to find on the internet the source material for this boot to no avail. Even the guy who runs the Amazing Kornyphone label blog said he doesn't know where this stuff is from. It's clearly studio outtakes from both the Rod Price era as well as Ian Gillan era. The version of the Beatles "We Can Work It Out" is priceless and alone worth downloading this. I'm estimating the release date of this boot to be around late '72/early '73. I also suspect that it was released prior to the Woman From Tokyo album not only due to the early version of that song that opens the album but it was a common practice back then (and still is) to try and get a leaked song the band was working on and put it out on a bootleg before the real version came out. The versions of Highway Star and Smoke On The Water are equally bizarre as they are clearly the versions that wound up on Made In Japan but it almost sounds like they might be early acetates before final mixing. "Star" runs too fast and you can hear a few guitar mistakes on "Smoke" that certainly weren't on Made In Japan, leading me to believe they're either early rough mixes or acetates. Somehow this all gels together though for a great listen and I highly recommend this, a classic example of what made vinyl bootlegs so wonderful in the day. THANKS TO ED!!
